Latin meaning: Awaiting the Last Verse

This lady resplendent with the fashion of Versailles, leans against a tree in the garden and 'awaits the last verse', the title resplendent with various meanings.

Personal  Collection

I've been requested to display paintings in my personal collection:

Ivy Crowned Rose
18"  by 24" Oil Painting

personal collection

Once again, my daughter finds herself as my model, this time in a painting.  I didn't want to do a 'portrait' per se, but was studying the works of the Art Nouveau master Alphonse Mucha.  So I wanted a straight forward frontal pose with a lyrical composition, wrapping ivy around her head like a crown and allowing some to fall down along her very long hair.   The barred Owl feather with its beautiful pattern was the finishing touch to bring it all together.

Lenten Roses & Lady Grey
12"  by 16" Oil Painting

personal collection

Charlotte, a friend of ours, agreed to model for me.  I was studying the portraiture of the Renaissance era.  Using natural morning light, Lenten Roses from my garden and off white fabrics for her wardrobe, her beautiful hair and eyes showed up wonderfully.  She patiently sat while I took photos and had her in various positions and then she took a break.  I made her a cup of tea and as she held it and I saw the steam rise, I knew I had finally found the perfect pose!

Honoring the Master
12"  by 16" Oil Painting

personal collection

This painting was inspired by the still life compositions of the Old Dutch Masters,  I realized after arranging the composition that with the book, grapes and bread it also has an Eucharistic feel.  The book and silver dish are family heirlooms.
